The Every Student Succeeds Act and Gifted and Talented Education

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

For the first time, gifted and talented education needs are directly addressed in federal law. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) allows the use of Title I funds to identify and serve gifted and talented students, and for the state plan to address gifted students in Title II professional development. Local districts receiving Title II funds must provide professional development training to address the needs of gifted students. Join NJSBA’s former Director of Legal and Labor Relations and the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children Advocacy Vice President as they discuss the impact of ESSA on gifted education and the opportunities for state and local advocacy.
