This session will provide an overview of the new Next Generation Science Standards; commonalities with the language arts and math standards are highlighted. Students are expected to define problems; generate and evaluate multiple solutions; build and test prototypes; make claims using evidence, and optimize a solution. Participants will be actively involved in challenges that promote K-12 STEM learning, and will experience how district curricula can be enhanced by incorporating activities that integrate students' knowledge of science, math, literacy, social studies, and engineering practices.
