Board members often struggle with how to effect positive change in their districts without overstepping their governance and policy roles. Hear how one board did. Inspired by their Saturday book discussion group, the Piscataway Board of Education shaped a district culture that reaches every student and staff member, and is transforming each school in individual ways. The nationally-recognized "You, I, We Inspire" campaign communicates board beliefs and core values, while allowing pre-K-12 principals to create unique programs in math, English language arts, music, art, character education, climate and culture, and more. This low-cost, easily-replicated program strives to set a tone in which every child recognizes his/her own self-worth and ability to meet each day’s challenges.
