IEP Facilitation: Helping Districts and Parents Develop an Individualized Education Program

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

All public schools are required to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for a student with disabilities. The Office of Special Education Policy and Procedure has developed a statewide IEP Facilitation Pilot Program for the 2017-18 school year. This FREE and voluntary program provides a trained facilitator to assist parents and districts in the development of a mutually agreeupon IEP. States and school districts across the country are increasingly turning toward this less costly approach, and are reporting improved relationships between school districts and parents; a greater number of mutually agreed upon IEPs; and a reduction in the number of districts and parents pursuing formal dispute resolution options. This session will explain the program in detail, as well as how districts and parents can utilize this pro-active program.
