Making the decision whether or not to pursue tenure charges against a tenured employee seeking termination is a complex decision that carries with it a variety of sometime competing factors ranging from financial, staffing, community and legal. In this lab, we will discuss factors that under best practices should be considered in deciding whether or not to pursue tenure charges against an employee. We will also discuss the legal process and timelines for tenure charges from start to finish, as well as discuss some possible alternatives to tenure charges that may be more appropriate under certain circumstances.
