Fundamentals of School Finance, Budgeting and Negotiations
A keen understanding of school finance is key to the successful operation of a school district. Session participants will learn the fundamentals of school finance, budgeting and negotiations. The presenters will discuss best practices in finance, and how the collaboration between board of education members, the school administrator, and the business administrator is essential. Topics to be covered include financial statements, monthly expenses, audit results, reserves, cost per pupil, tax revenue, budgeting requirements and negotiations essentials.

Finding Alternative Funding: How an Education Foundation Can Help
This session will provide participants with information on the critical need for and the benefits of an education foundation. Topics covered will include how to start a foundation, the legal and financial requirements, best practices in governance of the foundation and working with the superintendent and board of education. Participants will also learn how the New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership, can provide a foundation with support, assistance, fundraising strategies, resources and training.
