From Menu to Mindfulness - Taking Health and Wellness to Another Level
The Colts Neck Township School District, through the work of its Wellness Committee and Green Team, has taken "educating the whole child" to another level. From menu to mindfulness, the district is proud of its many wellness initiatives. Attendees will be introduced to individuals who will share their passion, expertise, and methods for engaging students that promote healthy living. Topics of discussion include: working with food services/food management to create menus that align to wellness goals; K-5 health curricula; after-school clubs for students that focus on health and wellness; and mindfulness in the schools.

Making the Most of Your Nutrition Program
This introductory presentation will be focused on ways to improve cafeteria operation. The session will provide overview guidance on the requirements of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. It will include marketing ideas to encourage healthier choices, including more whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables, and a component that will help the audience identify goals and communicate them in a way that helps food service provide a responsive and focused nutrition program.

Beyond the Bathroom Debate- An Expansive Trans Student Rights Policy
Regardless of the political debate about transgender rights, schools are responsible for creating safe and supportive learning environments for kids who are in gender transition.
The Highland Park School District has created a nationally recognized policy that prohibits gender discrimination, protects transgender students' privacy, and promotes diversity training on sexual orientation and gender identity issues. This session will feature a parent, psychologist, board member, and superintendent, who will share the challenges and successes of writing and implementing the policy.

Healthy Students: Making the Grade on New School Wellness Policy Requirements
