Under the direction of Mr. Josef Ellis, the percussion workshop class holds annual concerts for students to showcase what they learn throughout the semester, including music theory, history, technique, world percussion, and the ability to read music. Each student has the opportunity to perform solos, duets, and trios as well as perform in a large ensemble. The students learn rhythms and instruments through a variety of ways, whether it be signing and counting rhythms or transcribing what they feel through balloon dictation.

This year, the Mock Board will confront several controversial issues likely to come before your board in the coming school year. You will certainly want to attend this session in order to be better prepared.
While the session will follow an agenda like a regular board meeting, the public will have an opportunity to present general school law and labor relations questions to a panel of distinguished school board attorneys. Attendees are invited to bring their school law questions to the professionals!

Legislative Update Session
Once again, the Legislative Update session will feature a combination of NJSBA’s traditional forum with the session formerly held by the Garden State Coalition of Schools. It is hoped that this combined session will allow for the participation of a larger number of legislators, and possibly other state officials. Due to the larger-than-anticipated turnout we’ve experienced in recent years, this year’s update will also feature a larger room to comfortably accommodate more participants. Please come with your thoughtful questions for what we anticipate will be a great, collegial experience with our elected officials.
